Terms of Service

The agreement between you and Volt Hosting. Please read it — the Acceptable Use section matters most.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and phpMyDEV LLC, an Arizona limited liability company doing business as VoltJS ("Volt," "we," "us"), governing your use of Volt Hosting at host.voltjs.com (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) and able to form a binding contract. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind it to these Terms.

2. The Service

Volt Hosting publishes websites you build to a name.vsites.app address and, on paid plans, to your own custom domain. It includes a web-based editor, one-command WordPress import, and optional AI features. We offer a free tier and paid plans.

3. Your account

Login is passwordless: we email you a one-time link. You are responsible for keeping access to your email secure and for all activity under your account. Accounts are for a single person or organization, and you agree to provide accurate information.

4. Plans, billing, and cancellation

  • Free tier is subject to the posted limits and fair use.
  • Pro is US$12/month. Optional add-ons: the advanced editor (US$9/month) and AI features (US$9/month, which requires the editor add-on). Prices are exclusive of applicable taxes.
  • Paid plans are billed through Stripe and renew automatically each billing period until you cancel.
  • You may cancel anytime from your dashboard. Cancellation stops future renewals; your paid access continues until the end of the current paid period.
  • Fees are non-refundable, except where a refund is required by law. Cancelling does not refund the current period.
  • We may change prices; we will give you notice before a change applies to a renewal.
  • If a payment fails, we may suspend paid features or sites until it is resolved.
  • AI features include a monthly usage allowance; usage beyond your allowance may be limited.

5. Acceptable Use

You are responsible for everything you create, host, upload, publish, or transmit through the Service, including your subdomain name and anything you submit to AI features. You agree not to use the Service to create, host, store, transmit, or link to:

  • Content that is illegal or that facilitates illegal activity.
  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any sexualization of minors. We have zero tolerance: we remove it, terminate the account, preserve evidence, and report to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and law enforcement.
  • Pornographic or sexually explicit material, or the solicitation of adult/escort services.
  • Hate speech, harassment, threats, incitement to violence, terrorist content, or content promoting violence or discrimination against people based on protected characteristics — including antisemitic content.
  • Fraud or financial crime, including stolen credentials or financial data, "carding," counterfeit goods or currency, and money laundering.
  • Dark-web marketplaces or the sale of illegal drugs (including fentanyl), weapons, or other controlled or illicit goods.
  • Malware, ransomware, phishing, credential theft, "hacking-for-hire" or account-compromise services, or tools intended to attack systems or people.
  • Spam, deceptive or misleading content, or content that infringes the intellectual-property or privacy rights of others (including content you import without the right to do so).

You also agree not to abuse platform resources (e.g., crypto-mining, denial-of-service, or resource exhaustion), circumvent our limits, quotas, security, or abuse controls, resell the Service without authorization, or misrepresent your identity.

Enforcement. We are not obligated to monitor content, but we may. We may refuse, block, throttle, suspend, or remove any subdomain, content, site, or account that violates these Terms or that we reasonably believe creates legal or security risk — including automatically blocking prohibited subdomain names at signup — with or without notice. Severe or repeated violations result in termination.

6. Your content and license to us

You keep ownership of the content you create and upload. You grant phpMyDEV LLC a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, transmit, adapt (for example, to resize media or convert formats), and publicly display and serve your content solely to operate and provide the Service. You represent that you have all rights necessary to your content, including anything you import. You are responsible for your content and for your site's own legal compliance, including any privacy notice, cookie consent, and lawful basis for data you collect from your visitors.

7. Custom domains

On paid plans you may connect your own domain. You are responsible for registering and renewing it and for configuring DNS, and you represent that you have the right to use it. We provision HTTPS certificates for connected domains.

8. AI features

AI features are optional and powered by a third-party model provider (Anthropic). AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable, is provided "as is," and you are responsible for reviewing it and for anything you publish. Do not submit content you lack the rights to, or content that violates the Acceptable Use section. AI use is subject to your allowance and fair use, and we may change or discontinue AI features.

9. Third-party services

The Service relies on Stripe, DigitalOcean, and Anthropic. Your use may also be subject to their terms, and we are not responsible for third-party services.

10. Intellectual property

The Volt Hosting platform, the VoltJS name and logo, and related software are owned by phpMyDEV LLC and its licensors. The open-source Volt framework is provided under its own separate license. These Terms do not grant you any right to our trademarks.

11. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access for violations of these Terms, non-payment, legal or security reasons, or risk to the Service or others. You may close your account at any time; we hold it for a 30-day grace period (during which you can log in and export), then permanently delete it. On termination your right to use the Service ends and your sites go offline. Provisions that by their nature should survive — including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification — survive termination.

12. Copyright / DMCA

We respond to valid notices of alleged copyright infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Send notices to legal@voltjs.com including: identification of the copyrighted work; identification and location (URL) of the allegedly infringing material; your contact information; a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized; a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and you are authorized to act; and your physical or electronic signature. A counter-notice process is available to the affected user. We terminate repeat infringers.

13. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTY THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE. We do not guarantee any level of uptime or availability, and we do not guarantee that data will not be lost — keep your own backups and use the export feature. AI output, third-party content, and the content of user-published sites are not reviewed or endorsed by us.

14. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, phpMyDEV LLC AND ITS OWNERS AND AFFILIATES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR US$100.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless phpMyDEV LLC and its owners and affiliates from any claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your content, your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms or applicable law, or your infringement of any third party's rights.

16. Changes

We may modify the Service or these Terms. We will post changes here and update the date; for material changes we will provide additional notice. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept them. We may add, change, or remove features and plans.

17. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the state and federal courts located in Arizona. Before filing a claim, you agree to first try to resolve the dispute informally by contacting legal@voltjs.com.

18. General

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them to a successor. Neither party is liable for delays caused by events beyond its reasonable control. We will send notices to you by email or through the dashboard; send notices to us at legal@voltjs.com.
